What is the web design process?
Ask your website designer what their process is. Their are a lot of assets and project phases for a website design and development project, so it is very important that your website designer has a clear, concise and organized approach to web design.
- Discovery Phase: Gather business information, define website and business goals.
- Planning Phase: Outline your strategy from start to finish, create website wireframe, gather assets.
- Design Phase: Design and layout mockups for initial website pages. Once approved, develop those pages in a staging environment.
- Create Content Phase: Write copy for each website page, create site architecture. Can be done concurrently with step 3.
- Testing Phase: Review the fully developed website in its staging environment, make necessary changes.
- Launch Phase: Once website is tested and approved, go live.
- Maintenance Phase: Regular monthly maintenance tasks must be completed to keep your website optimized.
What should be included in a web design package?
An important note: what is included in your package will depend on the package tier or price point. Here are the basics that should be included:
- An initial discovery session
- Website wireframe, site architecture, UI/UX strategy
- Custom design and development of all website pages (Home, About, Contact, Product/Service pages, don’t forget Policy pages!)
- We recommend a Blog archives page too
- Page templates so you can add new website pages yourself
- Built using SEO best practices (very important)
- Responsive web design
- Social media links integrated
- Lead collection forms that sync to your email marketing account
- Initial set up Google My Business, Google Analytics, Google Search Console (typically an add-on, but we recommend it)
- Set up of your domain name and hosting account
- A content management system (CMS), like Wordpress
- A tutorial on how to use the CMS
- Post-launch tech support for 1 month
- Optional monthly website maintenance (extra fee)
